What to Do in NYC in the Fall

Whether you’re a first-time visitor or a seasoned New Yorker, the fall season in NYC is sure to leave you with unforgettable memories.

  • Visit Central Park: First up, Central Park. This sprawling oasis in the heart of Manhattan is even more beautiful in the fall. Take a stroll through the park and admire the changing leaves, or rent a bike and explore the park’s many winding paths. If you’re feeling adventurous, head to the North Woods or the Ramble for a hike through the woods.
  • Check Out a New York City Museum: Next, check out some of the city’s famous museums. The Metropolitan Museum of Art, the American Museum of Natural History, and the Museum of Modern Art are all world-class institutions that are worth a visit. And if you’re a fan of contemporary art, don’t miss the Whitney Museum of American Art in the Meatpacking District. Be sure to stop by and visit the 9/11 Memorial and Museum as well, if you haven’t been before. It’s very moving.
  • Explore the Spookier Side of NYC: If you’re in town in late October, be sure to check out the Village Halloween Parade. This annual event is one of the city’s most beloved traditions and features elaborate costumes, music, and dancing. And if you’re looking for something a little spookier, there are plenty of haunted houses and ghost tours around the city.
  • Watch a Broadway Performance: Of course, no trip to NYC would be complete without taking in a Broadway show. The fall season is a great time to catch a performance, as many new shows are debuting. Check out a classic like Hamilton or Wicked, or take a chance on something new.
  • Sample NYC Cuisine: If you’re a foodie, you’re in luck. The fall is a great time to sample some of the city’s best cuisine. Head to the Union Square Greenmarket for fresh produce and artisanal products, or check out the many food festivals that take place throughout the season. And don’t forget to try a famous New York bagel or slice of pizza while you’re there.
  • Get a Unique View of NYC: Take in the stunning views of the city from one of its many observation decks. The Empire State Building, One World Trade Center, and the Top of the Rock all offer breathtaking vistas of the city skyline. And if you’re feeling daring, head to the Edge at Hudson Yards, the city’s newest observation deck with a glass floor and stunning views.

No matter what your interests are, there’s something for everyone in New York City. So pack your bags and get ready for an unforgettable adventure in the city that never sleeps.
