What to Do in Iceland: Where to Stay, Eat, and More

I recently went on a trip to Iceland, and it was such an incredible experience that I can’t stop talking about it! The scenery was breathtaking and I couldn’t put my camera down the entire trip. From chasing the dancing northern lights to exploring hidden glacial caves, every moment was pure magic. Here are some my favorite places to visit, stay, and eat in Iceland to help you make the most of your time in this beautiful country.

You can’t visit Iceland without visiting one of their top travel attractions: the Blue Lagoon! This geothermal spa is known for its warm waters and mineral-rich mud, which are said to have healing properties. While there, you can relax in the warm waters or you can enjoy a spa treatment, like a massage or facial.

While there, we stayed at the Blue Lagoon Resort. The resort was luxurious, and the staff was super friendly and accommodating. Unfortunately, the Blue Lagoon is currently closed due to a potential volcanic eruption that could occur at any time in the area, but it’s scheduled to open soon!

One of my favorite restaurants in Iceland was Friðheimar aka the Greenhouse Tomato Restaurant. Not only was the food amazing, but it was such a fun experience dining inside of a greenhouse.

When it comes to packing for Iceland, it’s important to bring warm clothing. I filled my suitcase full of layers, so that I could add or remove pieces depending on each day’s temperatures and activities. I brought my Canada Goose jacket, Sorel boots, Obermeyer ski pants and jumpsuit, Kjus mittens, hats, earmuffs, and wool socks. These items kept me warm and comfortable throughout my trip.

As for my favorite sights, there were so many to choose from. While the Blue Lagoon was a must-visit, I also loved exploring the black sand beaches and the glaciers. One of the coolest experiences was getting to see the northern lights at the Aurora Basecamp.

Iceland is a beautiful country with so much to offer, from the stunning scenery to the delicious food. I can’t wait to go back and explore more of this incredible destination.
