Beat the Sunday Scaries

Looking forward to the weekend is normal, and it seems that somehow each week the days crawl by between Sunday and the weekend’s start on Friday.

The importance of a healthy mindset, positivity, and constructive habits are key to living each day as the happiest and most content version of yourself. Don’t just wish away weekdays and live for the weekend.

I love waking up early. It gives me time to get up, have breakfast, snuggle up on the sofa with my iced coffee and morning devo and then go get my daily dose of endorphins from the gym.

I don’t know about you, but I live for breakfast. Having a delicious protein shake (I love Fit With Cambrie’s protein powder and shake recipes), a Brie’s Bar or an egg white and veggie omelet makes me so happy in the morning and sets the tone for me to take on the day.

Morning Quiet Time

I joke that I live on a little bit of coffee and a whole lot of Jesus and I mean it. Completely. My favorite devotionals are Jesus Calling and Jesus Always, and then my church’s daily scripture and application reading called “Join the Journey” which actually has its own app called “Journey.” I honestly couldn’t make it through a day without Christ’s love, strength, and peace. He is truly the most solid rock on which to build a life and a daily routine.

And finally, work it out! Exercise is my stress outlet and gives me so much joy. It is a constructive outlet to empower yourself and sustain a healthy body and lifestyle. As a former soccer player, I love to run but also use practically every other piece of cardio equipment in the gym. I’m a firm believer in cross training and also consistent strength training for the best muscular and skeletal health. Kayla Itsines  and John Benton have amazing programs that you can practically do anywhere with little to no equipment. I believe that strength is beautiful and empowering, and one of the greatest things I’ve learned this year about fitness is how much fun it is to do with friends. It gives you accountability, companionship, makes trying new group classes less intimidating, and leads to lots of laughs.

My Workout Essentials:

Positive Affirmations

Throughout each day I’ve found it so useful to say or write out positive affirmations. They can be generic or goal-specific, but should always build up your self-image. Think confidence, not cockiness.

I’m hard on myself. Actually, I’m definitely my harshest critic in all areas of my life. One thing I struggle with is being kind to myself even though I know that no one is perfect. I make mistakes and mess up, and mentally being able to accept it and keep on moving down the road can be tough.

You are your own greatest advocate. And if you make a mistake—and we all do because we’re human—it’s so important to remember that if the Creator of the universe loves and forgives you for your flaws, then you can and should learn to love and forgive yourself. It’s one of the ways to grow and actually become a better person.

Positive affirmation examples:

  • I have the power to create change
  • I am a beautiful, unique creation who is loved
  • I am exuding the joy that I want to attract into my own life
  • I am intelligent, capable, and strong
  • I am calm, kind, and capable of loving other people even when it is difficult
  • I am a child of the one true King
  • I can do anything I set my mind to

Rest Up

Establish a night routine you love that lets your body know it is time to prepare to sleep. That could include a face mask, a warm cup of tea, and snuggling up in bed with your favorite book before you fall asleep. Sleep is a key priority throughout the week helps me wake up each day refreshed and ready to take on whatever is ahead.

I hope that some of these ideas help you enjoy each day to the fullest and help you achieve your goals and live joyfully!

xoxo,
